You can create shortcut to any program so that you can avoid using the mouse and you can just start the program by using the keyboard buttons. For this, the program shortcut icon should be present on the desktop. follow the below procedure

1. Right click on the program icon on the desktop to which you want to create shortcut and go to properties

2. select the shortcut tab which you can see at the top of the window

3.Find the option "shortcut key" and enter the combination by which you want to open that particular program.

4. If the entered shortcut key is already used for some other purpose, then windown will automatically suggest you the available combination.

5. Press ok and exit

From now on, you can open the program by using keyboard with out going for the mouse

Correcting system hang out at start up

If your system hangs about 2 or 3 minutes at startup, where you can't access the Start button or the Taskbar, it may be due to one specific service (Background Intelligent Transfer) running in the background. Microsoft put out a patch for this but it didn't work for me. Here's what you do:

1. Click on Start/Run, type 'msconfig', then click 'OK'.
2. Go to the 'Services' tab, find the 'Background Intelligent Transfer' service.
3. Disable it, apply the changes & reboot.

Create a new drive without any software or hardware

You can create a new drive for any folder in your computer to access that particular folder directly from your "my computer" window.

For e.g if you want to create a drive named P for your Program files folder then u need to enter the followin in ur DOS mode(type cmd in Run) : -

subst P: "c:\program files"

This will create a drive named P in your My Computer so that you can directly access your program files contents from this Drive.
You can also create a Seperate drive for your seperate folder for accessing data easily. For e.g Seperate drive for your music folder etc.

to delete this drive do this:

subst P: /d
it will remove that P drive from your PC.

Go to Start then Run
Type 'Regedit' then click 'Ok'
Find "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\"
Select "MenuShowDelay"
Right click and select "Modify'
Reduce the number to around "100"
This is the delay time before a menu is opened. You can set it to "0" but it can make windows really hard to use as menus will open if you just move your mouse over them. I tend to go for anywhere between 50-150 depending on the time

Great Advantage for the mobile users

TELECOM regulator Trai on Tuesday unveiled draft regulations for the implementation of mobile number portability (MNP), a facility that will allow consumers to change their telecom operator but retain their phone number. According to this,for example, if you are using a fancy mobile number like 9866778899 which is an AIRTEL number. If you wan to change to vodafone or tata indicom from your existing airtel service provider, you can do that even by keeping the same fancy number with you.i.e, the new service provider will provide the service to your same airtel number.

Trai has proposed that new mobile users be permitted to change their operators only after 90 days of signing up with their first service provider. It has also recommended that after changing their operator, consumers need to stay with the new telco for a minimum of 90 days. It has suggested that customers give a written undertaking to their existing service provider for switching to a new operator, which will then have to mandatorily carry out all checks, including identity verification, before the process can be completed. Trai has said that the process must be completed within five days.The regulator has also said that customers who wish to change their operators will be charged a fee, which would be specified later after consultations with both the industry and consumer bodies. But several executives at telcos said that the fee was likely to range anywhere between Rs 250-400.

The draft rules also state that the operators must telephonically inform the customer of the exact date and time the porting will happen. Post-paid customers will provide proof that there are no outstanding payments before they can change their operator, Trai added. The regulator has also clarified that the new operator that takes on the ported customers is not bound to repay any deposits made by the customer to his original service provider. The regulator has also made it clear that customers may have to face a ‘no service period’ that can extend for upto a few hours during which they will not be able to receive and make calls, as they are moved to a new operator. But in a bid to address concerns, Trai has said that the new operator must provide the customer with a list of missed calls and messages sent during the ‘no service period’.

This will be a great advantage for the user as they can expect better services and tariffs from their existing operator. Once this facility came into existence, (which is expected to hit the market around sep20) there will be a better and healthy competition between the service providers and hence we can expect better tariffs.

The DoT has already appointed two companies — Syniverse Technologies and MNP Interconnect — to be the MNP service provider, manage day-to-day management and implementation and also maintain the database of all numbers. While MNP will kick off in metros and category A circles such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat on September 20, the rest of the country will have access to this facility from March 20, 2010

Default modem driver for CDMA phones

use the following steps if you don't have your phone's modem driver.

1. Go to -> Control Panel -> Select Phone and Modem options.

Every one has had trouble with a scratched CD. Scratched data CD can't be read properly and in case of audio CD ,the CD skips when we play it.
To get rid of this, The first thing to do with a CD which gives a reading error, is to clean it; to check that the error is not being caused by a dirty surface. You can try cleaning the CD with a soft cotton cloth by wiping its surface . Start at the center and rub gently straight outward towards the edge. In case of a stubborn stain,you can try using warm water with some mild soap.Avoid sponges since they can scratch the CD.

A CD's data is recorded on a metal layer inside it. This metal layer is inset in a transparent plastic covering (polycarbonate) which is used to protect the CD's metal layer and to allow printing a label on the side not used for reading.

A CD-ROM drive uses a laser beam to read the metal layer. This laser beam crosses the plastic layer and reads the metal layer. If the plastic layer is scratched, the beam will be unable to pass through it as it will get deviated, resulting in a read error. The data to be read still lies in the CD, the trouble lies in the layer of plastic.

So how to repair this CD which holds your favourite Elvis Presly track?
As the CD's contents are preserved, a scratched CD can be recovered by polishing its plastic surface.The aim is to make the laser beam reach the metal surface which holds the data, in a straight line, without any deviations and change in intensity which may otherwise arise in a scratched CD.

Try polishing your CD with a "toothpaste"(baking soda toothpaste).Polish the scratches with a cotton swab. Rub gently the paste-imbued swab over the scratches until they disappear or until you notice that you have removed them as far as possible.Do all the cleaning gently.Do not apply pressure.After clearing the scratches, wash the CD in water.Let the water evaporate by itself.Do not keep the CD in sunlight.Keep it in a cool and shady area.

DO NOT USE A GEL TOOTHPASTE.If the scratches still persist try using a metal polish (Brasso) in the same way as described above. Rub Vaseline on the CD, very gently (do not press hard).Rub from the centre to the rim. Wipe excess off using clean, soft, lint-free cloth in a radial (inside to outside) motion.Test disc again. If the Vaseline does the trick, burn a new copy of the CD immediately. The Vaseline method is only a temporary solution.

An even more dangerous type of virus is one capable of transmitting itself across networks and bypassing security systems.Since 1987, when a virus infected ARPANET, a large network used by the Defense Department and many universities, many antivirus programs have become available. Spyware
Any software that covertly gathers user information through the user's Internet connection without his or her knowledge, usually for advertising purposes. A common way to become a victim of spyware is to download certain peer-to-peer file swapping products that are available today.

Adware
Any software application in which advertising banners are displayed while the program is running. The authors of these applications include additional code that delivers the ads, which can be viewed through pop-up windows or through a bar that appears on a computer screen. The justification for adware is that it helps recover programming development cost and helps to hold down the cost for the user.Adware has been criticized because it usually includes code that tracks a user's personal information and passes it on to third parties, without the user's authorization or knowledge. This practice has been dubbed spyware and has prompted an outcry from computer security and privacy advocates, including the Electronic Privacy Information Center.

Trojan Horse
A destructive program that masquerades as a benign application. Unlike viruses, Trojan horses do not replicate themselves but they can be just as destructive. One of the most insidious types of Trojan horse is a program that claims to rid your computer of viruses but instead introduces viruses onto your computer.The term comes from the a Greek story of the Trojan War, in which the Greeks give a giant wooden horse to their foes, the Trojans, ostensibly as a peace offering. But after the Trojans drag the horse inside their city walls, Greek soldiers sneak out of the horse's hollow belly and open the city gates, allowing their compatriots to pour in and capture Troy.

Computer Worm
A computer worm is a self-replicating computer program, similar to a computer virus. Dialer
A program that typically dials a premium rate number that has per minute charges over and above the typical call charge. These calls are with the intent of gaining access to pornographic material.

Hijackers
A program that attempts to hijack certain Internet functions like redirecting your start page to the hijacker's own start page, redirecting search queries to a undesired search engine, or replace search results from popular search engines with their own information.

Just perform the below steps and make ur pc running a lot better...

1.msconfig:
1.open RUN dialog box(start ->run or winkey + r)
2.type msconfig n press enter
3.u will come across a new window, there select startup tab
4.uncheck all the programs which are not in use(if u know).If u r not clear about this, just press the tab disableall and click on apply.
5.Restart ur pc.

2.Empty temp folder
1.Navigate to temp folder in ur C drive(mostly it wil be in the drive where OS is installed)
2.Clear all the data in that folder

open run dialog box and type %temp% ,press enter. It will directly navigate u to temperory folder. u just delete all the content in the folder.

3.Disk Defragmentation:

1.Locate your google messanger .exe file(the icon which we click to open gtalk)
2Now create a shortcut on desktop through this location.
3.Now right click on this icon and go to properties
4.go to shortcut tab u will see a textbox named target path which will look like"c:\program files\google\googletalk\googletalk.exe"
5.Now change it to"c:\program files\google\googletalk\googletalk.exe" /nomutex(in case, if u have startment after googletalk.exe", just remove that n type nomutex)

1.Create a new account,say maverick for example (you can careate new account by selecting "control panel" in start menu and then select "user accounts" in control panel and select Create a new account.)

2.After you finished up with creating new account, open run dialog box(Winkey + r) and type regedit and press enter.Then it opens registry editor.

1. Press the Win key + R key to open the run window. Type shutdown -s -t 3600. [s means shutdown while t means the duration after which you want to initiate the shutdown process]. give the value of t in sec after which the pc will shutdown. if you use this command then ur pc will shutdown after 3600 sec.

2.After u type in the time say 3600sec and later if you want to cancle the timer or if you don't want to shutdown ur pc,then open run(Win key + r) window and type as shudown -a. Then the timer will be calcelled and your pc will not shudown.

Create a batch file by doing the following:
1) Open notepad and enter the following lines:
